SYNOPSIS: Frank Sinatra told the director to the give the newcomer a break. John Sturges (The Great Escape) obliged, providing favourable camera angles for Sinatra's young co-star, in his first big budget film, Steve McQueen was ready to grab the world's attention. McQueen plays Bill Ringa, one of the O.S.S. combatants harassing the enemy in World War II Burma. Sinatra is Captain Tom Reynolds leading the guerilla fighters and risking court martial while doing so. Also among the "Never So Few" many are Charles Bronson, Peter Lawford and - in her first Hollywood film - Gina Lollobrigida. About McQueen, the "New York Herald Tribune"s reviewer wrote: "He possesses that combination of smooth-rough charm that suggests star possibilities". A star is born in "Never So Few".ABOUT THE DVD: This is a release by WARNER HOME VIDEO for the UK market - Region 2 PAL format, which will play on all standard DVD players in the UK and the rest of Europe (buyers outside of will need a multi-region player) - The film is presented in COLOUR and in WIDESCREEN format (2.40:1 ratio) and runs for a total of 120 minutes. AUDIO is the original ENGLISH language (Dolby Digital 5.1) - there are also French or Italian dubbed audiotracks on the DVD too. SUBTITLES on the disc include English, French, Italian, Dutch and Arabic. The DVD also includes the film's original theatrical trailer.
